It’s one thing to get drunk, its another to get vertigo. The actual, medical term for what I have is something in Latin and I make an effort not to remember such things. I’ve been dealing with it for two weeks and I’m not completely better yet.
I was at work and had just returned to my desk when I sat down and started reading. After about 2 minutes I started to get dizzy and my computer screen started moving on its own. I couldn’t focus on anything. I was light-headed and gave it a few more minutes to pass but it didn’t. I’ve experience light-headedness before but nothing like this.
I was so dizzy I wanted to throw up so made for the bathroom. I imagine it is the same as spinning in place on a carousel while crossing one’s eyes.
I didn’t puke but I managed to call my wife who was up state cruising in the mountains. Change of plan: urgent care. My coworker, Dylan Hanna, had to drive me. When I got there the doctor told me I had to go to the hospital. All of this really didn’t help and I ended up at the ENT the day after. He told me it was pressure on my inner ear and gave me antibiotics. The crazy Carousel spinning effect stopped after 3 days.
So the room isn’t spinning anymore but I have the same effect of being drunk. It’s weird, whenever I move my head there’s like a tracking issue. No blur though.
I had a check up on Monday and the Doc said I have another 2 weeks until I’m back to normal or I may have to do physical therapy.
So yeah. That’s what’s going on with me. I bump into things frequently now. Still excited about WCUS.
