OBS and YouTube

At the end of 2015 I was looking for a screen-video capture (not a single image like snagit or Print Screen but rather video capture of my computer screen). And I went throug a huge list; CamStudio and Jing are two I can remember but I think I tried out 4 – all of which frustrated. They either didn’t export to a useful file type, required purchase to remove watermark or required purchase for a number of other reasons.

Then I happened across Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). It’s free. It works. It exports to MPEG4. It was rough finding it. In fact I just did a google search for “besst screen video recorder” and the first hit doesn’t have it listed. Why?

Well at least I’m saying something about it here. Maybe someone will come across this and avoid the hours and days of hairpulling and just get OBS. So, with that out of the way, I started recording some of my work. I have delved into YouTube at work in part I have been tapped to co-ordinate a YouTube channel for Woodard.com so naturally I saw the good in that and did the same for my company. I had the idea for doing the before joining Woodard but for different reasons. Instead of promotion purposes, the main goal is for sharing ideas and teaching others how to do what I do.

Only problem is my voice. Sorry about that. Hopefully this and the channel can help others out.
